Great Moments In Syndication
• Legendary broadcaster Charles Osgood, host of Westwood One’s long-running The Osgood File, will be honored by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences with the 2017 “News & Documentary Emmy Award for Lifetime Achievement.”
The award is presented to a journalist or filmmaker who “has made a lasting and distinguished contribution to broadcast journalism or documentary film,” and Osgood certainly qualifies — Osgood famously anchored CBS Sunday Morning for 22 years until his recent retirement. His radio broadcast, The Osgood File, currently airs on 386 stations nationwide. Osgood will receive his award on October 5 in New York City.
• Magic Broadcasting Country WWLY (Wild Willie 100.1)/Panama City Beach, FL welcomes the syndicated duo of Darren Wilhite and Tim Wall, a.k.a. Wilhite & Wall to the morning shift. “We’re thrilled to bring these guys on board,” said OM/PD Marc Summers. “This isn’t a satellite show; it’s a customized voicetrack product that sounds like my radio station. Darren and Tim talk about station business, talk about things happening in Panama CIty… they even do liners, too!”
Wilhite & Wall also handle mornings for Country outlets KTHS/Berryville, AR and KCTY (The Coyote 96.7)/Fayetteville, AR. As we recently reported, Wilhite & Wall is distributed by Rockcastle Media Networks.
