Kannon To Succeed Garabedian

Kannon Mike 2017Last fall it was announced that the legendary John Garabedian would eventually be stepping down as host of Open House Party, the first live national major market Top 40 radio show that he launched in WXKS (Kiss 108)/Boston in 1987. Stay tuned for the official announcement from OHP‘s current owner, United Stations, but word is out that Mike Kannon, who hosts the show’s Sunday edition will now annex the Saturday show as well.

In a Facebook post, Kannon said, “Taking over for my mentor John Garabedian is both daunting and humbling. John has given me so much wisdom — not just about radio (and how to make people genuinely bond to you as a personality and ultimately create ‘fans,’ not ‘listeners’), but has also taught me innumerable lessons about life itself. I’m forever grateful. I’m beyond excited to host the nationally syndicated show I grew up listening to, and is entirely responsible for my career in broadcasting.” He added, “Thank you so much to United Stations Radio Network and to all those who have been a part of ‘the biggest party on the planet’ through the years as a part of the family, or as a loyal fan. We appreciate you. And now… the party continues. February 8 across North America.”
