Woody? Or Transamerica Pyramid?
• Cumulus Media makes it official and confirms that, after a nine-year absence, The Woody Show is indeed returning to the Bay Area — where it all began — this time on iconic Rock station KFOG/San Francisco. The Woody Show debuts at 5am on Monday, April 30 on KFOG @ 104.5 and simulcast partner KFFG (97.7)/Los Altos.
As we reported yesterday, The Woody Show previously aired on CBS Radio Alternative KITS (Live 105)/San Francisco from early 2006 until April 2009. The cast members then went their separate ways for a while — Woody and Renae Ravey did mornings for a few years on Emmis Alternative KPNT (105.7 The Point)/St. Louis while Menace and Greg Gory each anchored separate radio shows in San Francisco before the crew, including Sebas, reconvened in April 2014 at their current flagship, iHeartMedia Alternative KYSR (ALT 98.7)/Los Angeles.
Matt Bates, PD of KFOG, said, “The opportunity to align KFOG with such unique and compelling talent doesn’t come along often. We recognized this and locked them in. As a fan of The Woody Show, it’s remarkable that it’s taken this long for them to have a major platform from which they can take back the Bay. The Woody Show represents that bright and entertaining spot in our morning routine. YOU KNOW!”
Woody exclaimed, “Like the lions coming together to form Voltron, the Bay Area is where all the pieces fell into place and we launched The Woody Show. Needless to say, we are hella* excited (*it’s a Bay Area thing) to be back on the air, in the market that we owe everything to. Thanks to the folks at Cumulus for fighting for us, and allowing us to be part of the evolution/revolution of KFOG.”
