Re-upped, Extended, Not Leaving

• CBS Radio has wisely chosen to re-up KMVQ (99.7 NOW!)/San Francisco midday star Shan Berries for multiple years. In making the big announcement, Michael Martin, who doubles as SVP of Programming and Music Initiatives and PD of KMVQ and KLLC (Alice @ 97.3) said, “Shan is an incredible talent. She walks (more like runs) into the station every day with a smile on her face, ready to attack. I’m so happy to have her on the team and spreading great vibes throughout the Bay Area. Shan is one of the many reasons 99.7’s ratings stay so high.”

Eagerly returning the love-volley, Shan said, “99.7 NOW! has always been my home. I began my journey in radio here as an intern, and if it wasn’t for Michael and Jazzy taking a chance on me, I wouldn’t be where I am today. We have the greatest fans, and I’m so honored by all their support and appreciation. I look forward to these next couple of years as an opportunity to make more great memories, grow, and continue to hold it down for The Bay Area!”

• Meanwhile, across the street, Phoenix radio fave Charlie Huero has put pen to paper and signed a sweet new multi-year agreement to remain as APD and afternoon drive personality on CBS Radio Classic Hits KOOL (94.5 KOOL FM)/Phoenix. Huero’s history with KOOL FM dates back to 2011 when he was appointed APD/midday personality. Before that he spent over a decade across the street in multiple positions at Riviera Rhythmic KKFR (Power 98.3 & 96.1).

In announcing Huero’s extension, Tim Richards, VP of Programming, CBS Radio Phoenix said, “Charlie is an incredible talent with unmatched passion and experience. We are excited to renew his agreement.”

Huero commented, “I want to thank Dave Pugh and Tim Richards for the opportunity to continue to live out my dream job! It’s almost déjà vu because the songs I’m playing on KOOL now, were the same songs I was playing 30 years ago as currents. To be able to wake up each day, come to work, be creative and have fun is truly a blessing. The family and culture here at KOOL is amazing. I’m grateful to be here!” Huero’s lengthy radio career began at WLXR/La Crosse, WI; he went on to work his magic at WLUM/Milwaukee, XHTZ (Z90) and KMGC/San Diego, KPWR (Power 106)/Los Angeles and KTFM/San Antonio.
