The End Of The Jack Daniel Era

Chuck “DZL” Thompson is coming home to iHeartMedia Alternative WEND (106.5 The End)/Charlotte as PD and afternoon personality, effective immediately. The End is very familiar turf for DZL (left), who notably spent eight years there as APD/MD/afternoon personality until January of this year, when he was named PD/midday personality at iHeartMedia Alternative sister WRXL (XL102)/Richmond. DZL’s earlier programming and promotions stops were in Rochester, NY, Atlanta, Columbia, SC and Canton, GA

“DZL is an extraordinary programmer: strategic, creative and driven,” said Meg Stevens, EVP of Programming for iHeartMedia’s Northeast Division. “He knows how to perfectly blend the art and the science of programming. I look forward to his return to the Queen City.” DZL commented, “I love the Queen City and to have the opportunity to continue to help grow our iHeartMedia brands in my honorary hometown has me beaming. Charlotte is a vibrant and booming city. 106.5 The End has a huge responsibility to respect the history and celebrate and promote the growth of our community. I couldn’t be more excited!”

• DZL succeeds longtime WEND PD/afternoon talent Jack Daniel, who exits after 22 years. Daniel was part of the original team that launched The End back in 1995.

We are happy to report that Jack is doing well and is looking forward to catching up with his many industry friends and longtime fans. Feel free to drop him a note — literally — to NoteToJackDaniel@gmail.com.
