Taylor Fans Swiftly Show Up
• UPDATED: Several hundred alert Taylor Swift fans gathered Thursday at the large, mysterious butterfly mural that had appeared recently on the side of a building in Nashville’s Gulch neighborhood. These clever fans were responding to a steadily increasing series of countdown clues that had been posted to social media by Taylor, who later confirmed that she had commissioned the mural by artist Kelsey Montague.
The action suddenly kicked into overdrive Thursday morning when the word ‘ME!’ was added to the mural and fans started gathering in earnest — and the Brand Manager of “a local radio station” swung into action… That would be Joe Breezy, Brand Manager of Midwest Communications’ Top 40 WNFN (i106.7)/Nashville, who recounts the situation, telling RAMP, “When the word, ME!’ got painted on this morning I just had a hunch Taylor was going show up. When we got there we saw security directing traffic and they had blocked off the mural so I knew something was going happen…”
He added, “Just before noon Taylor arrived, took pictures with her fans (and with Joe, as seen here) and addressed the crowd. Our station quickly went viral and we were featured on Entertainment Tonight, Good Morning America, all ABC affiliates nationwide, etc.”
Later, back in the relative quiet of his office, Breezy said, “When the Queen of Nashville, Taylor Swift calls, you answer. No questions asked. Being the only visible station on-site, we got to take pictures with her, chat with her about her new project and more importantly, had a blast with hundreds of our listeners that came out to join the fun! It was a win-win all around and I couldn’t be more proud of our team!” The Tennessean has more details about the whole Taylor/mural thing.
UPDATE: The big countdown ended at midnight ET last night, at which time a brand new Taylor single, aptly titled “ME,” featuring Brandon Urie of Panic! At The Disco (Republic) dropped into in-boxes across America.
