WHUR/DC Welcomes Joi & Monds
• Howard University’s 96.3 WHUR/Washington announced the addition of two familiar voices to the DMV — market veteran Autumn Joi is new to middays, while the legendary John Monds comes home to WHUR as the new host of the Original Quiet Storm, weeknights from 7:30pm to midnight.
Autumn Joi rolls weekdays from 10am to 3pm with her Live Squad Show. A native of Prince George’s County, MD, Joi just returned from North Carolina, but she previously worked at two other DC stations along with a stint in Baltimore. “I started my career in DC over 10 years ago and to be coming home to the top station in the market is literally a dream come true,” Joi said.
Monds’ triumphant return to WHUR marks his second stint at the station and will continue WHUR’s legacy of being the only live and local ballad-driven R&B night show in the DMV. “I’m so excited to be back at WHUR and a part of the team to lead the Quiet Storm back to its rightful No. 1 place,” said Monds.
WHUR PD Al Payne says, “Our core mission is to entertain and inform. The addition of Autumn and John to our already wildly popular stellar team of radio personalities, led by the award-winning Steve Harvey Morning Show is guaranteed to keep the DMV engaged and in the know.” GM Sean Plater remarked, “WHUR stands on a long rich legacy of delivering broadcast excellence and we are elated to have John Monds and Autumn Joi with us as we begin to mark our 50th Anniversary.”
• And as reported by RAMP this morning, it is believed that market vet Frank Ski will be returning to afternoon drive on WHUR within the next few weeks. Stay tuned.
