Wichita’s July 4th Blast

• At high noon on Wednesday, July 4, after several days of stunting as “92.7 The Patriot,” Rocking M Media Classic Hits KWME/Wichita, KS formally debuted its new Throwback identity as “The New 92.7 The Blast — The Rhythm of River City,” playing all those great party songs you know and love from artists like Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Snoop Dogg, Prince, TLC, Vanilla Ice, Black Eyed PeasJennifer Lopez, etc.

Jeff McCausland, GM of Rocking M Media Wichita, said, “We are very excited to bring this new format to Wichita. We’re confident that The Blast will make the Wichita radio market even more robust, and advertisers will be eager to target this very valuable audience.”

92.7 The Blast is under the command of market vet Tommy Castor (pictured), who also serves as GM of Rocking M Media’s radio stations in Wellington and Winfield, KS. Castor is best known for his decade of service across the street with iHeartMedia Top 40 KZCH (Channel 96.3)/Wichita, the last 6 1/2 as PD, until his resignation in March. Castor commented, “The New 92.7 The Blast fills a void in the Wichita radio landscape. These are all the awesome party songs you grew up listening to at a school dance, a wedding reception or even just driving down the street. We know that this new radio station for the Wichita area will quickly find a strong and loyal audience.”

Beginning Monday, July 9, the new 92.7 The Blast will debut its personality line-up, starting in morning drive with The Marco Show, anchored by longtime Wichita radio pro Marco Benitez. Caitlin Geer, who also hosts mornings on AC sister KLEY-AM (The Wave 100.3/1130)/Wellington, KS will handle middays, and Castor will round out the on-air lineup in afternoon drive.
