Family First For Karina Farias
• Life has been changing rapidly of late for Karina Farias, PD and morning co-host at Bonneville Classic Rock KUFX (98.5 KFOX)/San Jose-San Francisco, who announced yesterday that she will be relocating to San Antonio in early October to be with her husband, Jared, who is recovering after undergoing a kidney transplant several weeks ago. And here’s the kicker — Karina was the donor! Thankfully, both Karina and Jared are doing well, but they will be staying in Texas, and she will be seeking radio opportunities in the San Antonio and Austin areas.
The move marks a return to the Lone Star State for Farias, who worked for Bryan Broadcasting in College Station, TX as APD/MD/afternoon personality on Country KVMK (Maverick 100.9) and APD/MD on Classic Country Willy 97.7 (KNDE-HD2). She also did part-time on Audacy Country KILT (100.3 The Bull)/Houston.
The news of Karina’s impending departure was shared in a staff memo from Brian Figula, Director of Programming Operations for Bonneville Bay Area, who said, “Karina started with us in July of 2018, and during her time at KOIT and KFOX she elevated many aspects of our programming department. With previous experience with RCS programming products, she became a leader in transitioning our default music and automaton systems. 98.5 KFOX has record shares in all dayparts and she’s raised the bar by building a show with Chris Jackson. Her achievements are endless and I’m extremely proud of her hard work and loyalty. We look forward to learning what’s next on her new journey in Texas and wish her, Jared and (their cat) Kiwi a prosperous future.”
• While Figula will absorb KFOX programming duties, he is now in search of a new co-pilot for San Jose’s Great Radio Experiment alongside Chris Jackson. The position is now posted online for qualified candidates. EOE. For any potential employers in the San Antonio-Austin corridor, Karina can be easily contacted at karinaonair@outlook.com.
