Randi Kirshbaum Joins WRNR/Annapolis
• We are thrilled to hear that longtime Triple A veteran Randi Kirshbaum is back in action again — she’s been hired by Steve Kingston’s Empire Broadcasting Triple A WRNR/Annapolis, MD as a part-time and fill-in talent, starting this Sunday, Nov. 21, from 10am-3pm. Roll tape. The cool part is that Randi will be able to track her shows from her home studio in Maine.
You may recall that Kirshbaum spent nearly four decades with Saga’s Portland Radio Group in Portland, ME, and most recently programmed AC WMGX (Coast 93.1) and Triple A WCLZ until May 2020.
In a staff memo announcing Kirshbaum’s hire, WRNR PD Bob Waugh said, “We are grateful to add a true radio veteran like Randi, who has a deep understanding of the music we champion as well as familiarity with Annapolis and Anne Arundel County. She’s a radio veteran who started her career at age 16 as the first female ‘jock’ in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. She joined KQRS, one of the original FM Progressive Rock stations in 1970. Randi went on to work at legendary stations WHFS/Bethesda and WBCN/Boston.”
Kirshbaum said, “My true radio heart is in Triple A, and RNR is one of the best in the business. Plus, having lived in Maryland and Washington DC, it feels like coming home.” Share your good thoughts with Randi at randi@kirshbaum.com.
