Condolences: Steve Oshin
• We were saddened to hear of the passing of Steve Oshin, former longtime Seattle radio GM, Children’s Miracle Network executive and mental health and career counselor, who died Sunday, April 17 after a battle with cancer.
Over the course of his radio career, Oshin notably served as GSM, VP of Sales and VP/GM of Bonneville Seattle for 14 years, followed by a two-year run as VP/GM of Entercom Seattle until 2008, before joining Children’s Miracle Network, where he served for nearly 12 years, rising to Chief Business Development Officer and overseeing the organization’s successful Radiothon program. After serving as a mental health counselor for two years, Oshin launched Oshin Therapy, working with adolescent boys to help them find their super power.
Steve Reynolds, CEO of The Reynolds Group beautifully encapsulated the feelings of many in a heartfelt Facebook post that reads, in part, “[Steve] was kind, smart, very funny, always more interested in me than he’d allow me to be in him, and asked the most amazing questions that forever elevated me as a person, always encouraging every one of us to do the right thing in any instance. I hate to lose Steve from my life. But it’s way more vibrant and I am a way more present person because of him. His legacies are his wonderful family, the tens of millions of dollars he helped radio stations raise for their local children’s hospitals (teaching talent in the process the power they had to have a positive impact on their fans and communities), and the effect he had on many people, who were lucky like me, making us better citizens of the world. My heart breaks. Love you, Steve.”
Oshin is survived by his wife, Cynti, daughters Hannah and Molly, son, Sam and grandson, Barrick. Your notes of condolences may be sent to The Oshin Family, 3390 NE Crystal Springs Drive, Bainbridge Island, WA 98110. Details about services are forthcoming.
