New MCA Consolidates, Realigns, Reduces

• This week, Universal Music Group Nashville rebranded as Music Corporation of America (MCA). Apparently that was Step 1 — Step 2 is the consolidation of the radio promotion departments of Capitol Records Nashville, EMI Nashville, MCA Nashville and Mercury Nashville into two teams “to further maximize its leverage at radio.”

The EMI Records Nashville and Mercury Nashville rosters will now be serviced by VP of Promotion Jimmy Rector and his team, and the Capitol Records Nashville and MCA Nashville rosters will be overseen by VP of Promotion Miranda McDonald and her team. Both teams will remain under the leadership of SVP of Promotion Damon Moberly.

Digging deeper, our friends at Country Aircheck helpfully laid out the nuts and bolts of this new structure — going forward, here are newly realigned regional promotion staffs:

Capitol/MCA: Donna Jo Passuntino, Annie Sandor, Shannon Hogan, Ashley Knight, Katelyn Lester, Megan Youngblood, & Kenzie Couch (Coordinator)

EMI/Mercury: Jack Christopher, Trudie Daniell, Summer Harlow, John Trapane, Briarman Whitfield, & Joslyn Richardson (Coordinator).

Aircheck notes that VP of Promotion & Strategy David Friedman, Director of Promotion Katie Bright and Director of Radio Marketing Houston Gaither “will work under the umbrella of parent MCA.”

And, as is usually the unfortunate side effect of any corporate action that includes the term “consolidation,” this new leaner structure has resulted in Step 3: the exit of several talented promo pros:

UMGN Director of Promotion & Radio Marketing Nick Kaperkapernp@gmail.com • Capitol/Southwest promo rep Mara Sidwebermsidweber@sbcglobal.net • EMI Nashville/Northeast promo rep Mike Krinikmikekrinik@gmail.com • Mercury/West Coast promo rep Sally Green (an 18-year veteran) — greensa927@gmail.com • Mercury/Southwest promo rep Jill Brunett (14 years) — jjbrun4882@gmail.com • Mercury Coordinator Sean Dolansdolan2022@gmail.com • Capitol Coordinator Christopher Raphael-ReilyChrisraphaelreily@gmail.com.
