VanOsdol Circles Back To WXRT

• After a tasteful 25-year gap, longtime Chicago radio pro James VanOsdol makes his triumphant return to Audacy Triple A WXRT (93XRT) to host Sundays from 6-10pm and lead the relaunch of Local Anesthetic, Sunday nights at 9pm, beginning this Sunday, June 14. The now hour-long show will serve as an in-depth look at Chicago’s music scene, spotlighting the cutting edge while acknowledging the city’s rich musical history.

The good news was delivered in a staff memo from WXRT Brand Manager Michelle Rutkowski that reads, in part, “James is a celebrated voice in Chicago and host of the award-winning Car Con Carne podcast. His radio stops include WKQX, WGN, and WZZN, and as I mentioned, a quick cup of coffee right here at XRT (in 2001). His deep connections in the local music community have made him one of the most trusted advocates for Chicago artists for over three decades as the creator/host of local music shows including Local 101, Local Zone, and Demo 312. We are very lucky to have him joining our team!”

Rutkowski added, “I sensed that JVO would be the perfect fit here, but I wasn’t sure I’d be able to convince him to come back to his radio roots. His response? ‘This isn’t radio, though… It’s XRT.’ And I know we all feel the same way here.”
