BOOM! Gone, As If By Majic
After nearly three years as Classic Hip Hop BOOM! 94.5, Radio One returns KSOC/Dallas to its Urban AC roots as Majic 94.5. The former Old School 94.5 had flipped to Classic Hip Hop in November 2014. The new Majic 94.5 features music from Bruno Mars, Beyoncé and Mary J. Blige, etc., mixed with some throwback flavor with the likes of Erykah Badu, 112 and Prince, to name a few. As a part of the change, Majic 94.5 has also brought back The Tom Joyner Morning Show in morning drive and has installed the syndicated DL Hughley Show in afternoon drive.
“We’re excited to bring a fresh, new vibe to the airwaves with Majic 94.5 and I think the Metroplex will like what they hear,” says Tami Honesty, VP/GM of Radio One Dallas. “With today’s fast-paced news cycle, the return of Tom Joyner during mornings and the addition of DL Hughley in afternoons, we’ll connect with our listeners on another level giving us the right balance of music and entertainment.”
The arrival of Joyner replaces The Mark McCrazy Experience, as OM/PD Mark McCray comes off the air. McCray said, “Majic 94.5 will satisfy the adults that are looking for an R&B station that is customized for the DFW, with all-star talent like Tom Joyner and DL Hughley. We are confident that our mix of music and talent will reflect the thoughts and concerns of our community while entertaining and informing the Metroplex.” DFW’s own Cindi B. will continue to do 9am-2pm, while Love and R&B with John Monds, hosted by radio vet John Monds will air Sundays through Thursdays from 7-midnight.
