Awards, Honors & Accolades

• Congrats to Armand Carr, host of The Quiet Storm on Entercom Urban KBLX/San Francisco, who was named the 2017 Jefferson Award Person of the Year (regionally) for his work in the community as the founder of All Tied Up. This initiative, which was launched last August, is designed to provide positive male support to youth in Bay Area communities. What initially started as a one-day tie drive for students at a Richmond High School has now blossomed into a program to reduce high-risk behaviors among youth by building self-love and self-respect. This award qualifies Armand for the National Jefferson Award.

One of the founders of The Jefferson Awards Foundation was Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. The Foundation’s mission is to empower others to have maximum impact on the things they care about most. Each year, winners are selected from across the country based on their exceptional community engagement.

KBLX Operations Manager Elroy Smith commented, “Armand Carr is one of the most genuine people I know. His passion and commitment to helping the youth of The Bay Area is stellar. He is selfless in his approach and committed to furthering this initiative, which deserves the accolades and recognition it’s receiving in the Bay Area.”

• Entercom Hot AC KALC (Alice 105.9)/Denver was recently inducted into the elite ranks of the 2017 Miracle Million Club for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. This special recognition is given to partners who raise over $1 million annually. Through their tireless efforts during the station’s most recent Radiothon, Alice personnel and generous listeners raised over $1,257,384, all of which will benefit the local CMN Hospital, Children’s Hospital Colorado.

Thanks to generous community support, Radiothons raised a total of $795,884 for local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, during the weeks of April 9 to April 29, 2017. Donations will stay in the area to fund critical equipment, services, research and charitable care that saves and improves lives of local kids. Since 1983, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals has raised more than $5 billion.
