International House Of Dub!

• Our pal R Dub!, globetrotting host of Benztown-syndicated Sunday Night Slow Jams and Director of Programming for XHTZ (Z90.3) & XHRM (Magic 92.5)/San Diego just visited his 100th country: Iraq! It’s yet another step on R Dub!’s ambitious mission to visit all 193 countries of the world. This special 100-country-milestone was marked by a celebration with locals in Iraq and the presentation of a certificate and membership from the Travelers’ Century Club

“Since commencing this mission to see every country in the world, my life has never been the same,” Dub! said. “This journey has opened up my heart and mind in ways I will never be able to put into words. I’m so thankful to be a part of these amazing experiences: visiting so many far-off lands and connecting with people all over the world — including many places most would never consider traveling to. I’m so happy to say that many of these counties aren’t just what you see on the news; actually travelling to these destinations allows one to see everyday life: the families, the cultures, commerce, and every little delightful idiosyncrasy that makes every country special. What a beautiful world we live in. I travel the world to take photos, make memories and leave smiles.”

• R Dub! is pictured here in with a member of his Iraqi security detail and a crowd of curious young men in front of Saddam Hussein’s former summer palace.

Why Iraq? R Dub! replied, “Choosing No. 100 was tough! I wanted to choose somewhere very different, and definitely not a tourist destination. We were told so much about Iraq from the news when I was a young man — the Iraq War, Saddam Hussein, terrorism, bombings, military strikes, etc… all the bad stuff. I wanted to see the other side: the people, the food, the music, the culture. I’m happy to report that I’ve spent such great quality time with some of the friendliest and most hospitable people that I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing in my entire life here. I’ve made some lasting friends in Iraq.”

Concurrent with this special visit is the launch of R Dub!’s new podcast, Destination 193, where he shares the sights, sounds and stories of every country he visits as he takes listeners on his amazing journey to visit every nation on the planet. Featured episodes include R Dub!’s travels to North Korea, Libya, Venezuela and South Sudan. R Dub! is also an author, filmmaker and President of Slow Jams 4 Kids, a global clean water initiative.
