Meet Your RHOF Class Of 2017!
Late last night, the National Radio Hall of Fame committee emerged from its top-secret underground bunker, saw its shadow and revealed its latest group of deserving inductees. The two working professionals that were decided by public vote are: Bobby Bones, host of The Bobby Bones Show; syndicated by Premiere Networks (Music Format On-Air Personality) and Bill Handel, host of The Bill Handel Show on KFI-AM/Los Angeles and Handel on the Law, syndicated by Premiere Networks (Spoken Word On-Air Personality).
The other four categories were decided by a voting participant panel that was comprised of nearly 1,000 industry pros. Those inductees are: Tom Barnard, host of The Tom Barnard Show, KQRS/Minneapolis (Active Local/Regional, 10+ years); John Records Landecker, most notable for his time at WLS-AM and WJMK-FM/Chicago (Longstanding Local/Regional, 20+ years); Sean Hannity, host of The Sean Hannity Show, syndicated by Premiere Networks (Active Network/Syndication, 10+ years) and Robin Quivers of The Howard Stern Show on SiriusXM (Longstanding Network/Syndication, 20+ years). In just three years since public voting was reinstituted, the National Radio Hall of Fame reports an unprecedented level of audience participation with nearly 300,000 votes cast for Music Format On-Air Personality and Spoken Word On-Air Personality.
The National Radio Hall of Fame nominating committee also voted to induct two individuals for their contributions to the industry — Joseph M. Field, Chairman/Founder of Entercom Communications Corp. and the late Robert S. “Bob” Sievers, who graced the airwaves of was WOWO/Ft. Wayne, IN for 51 years. Kraig T. Kitchin, Chairman of the National Radio Hall of Fame commented, “Each year the enthusiasm and participation from those in our industry and the voting public grows by leaps and bounds. We’re so happy to induct this truly deserving, talented group of broadcasters this year into the National Radio Hall of Fame.” The black-tie-optional induction ceremony takes place on Thursday, Nov. 2 at the home of the National Radio Hall of Fame — the Museum of Broadcast Communications in downtown Chicago. Tickets are now available at radiohof.org. A portion of your ticket purchase is a tax-deductible charitable donation to the Museum. The Mix Group is the presenting sponsor of the National Radio Hall of Fame Induction ceremony.
