• The Broadcasters Foundation of America is proud to announce FCC Chairman Ajit Pai as the recipient of this year’s Lowry Mays Excellence in Broadcasting Award. The Award is bestowed annually on an individual in broadcasting whose work exemplifies innovation, community service, advocacy, and entrepreneurship. Chairman Pai will be honored at the Broadcasters Foundation Annual Breakfast on Wednesday, April 22 at 7am in the Brahms Room of the Encore Hotel in Las Vegas, during the NAB Show. As was previously announced, the Broadcasters Foundation will also present the Leadership in Broadcasting Awards during the Breakfast.

The Lowry Mays Excellence in Broadcasting Award salutes its namesake and is underwritten by The Mays Family Foundation. Past recipients include Bill Clark, Eddie Fritts, Cathy Hughes, Mel KarmazinJeff Smulyan, Dick Wiley, and others.

• Chairman Pai and NAB President & CEO Gordon Smith will also participate in a keynote conversation on Monday, April 20 during the NAB Show Welcome event. They will discuss communications policy issues before the FCC, including spectrum policy and media ownership.

The NAB Show Welcome event will also feature Smith’s “State of the Broadcast Industry” address and the presentation of the NAB Distinguished Service Award. It all begins at the stroke of at 9am on the Main Stage in the North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center. The NAB Show will be held April 18-22, 2020, in Las Vegas.
