Simmons! Frehley! Felder! Nielsen!
Today is a special occasion when Gene Simmons, Cheap Trick, Don Felder and Ace Frehley will share the stage for The Children Matter Benefit Concert to support the victims of Hurricane Harvey. Over 10,000 enthusiastic fans are expected to jam CHS Field Stadium in downtown St. Paul, MN tonight to enjoy this benefit concert, which stars The Gene Simmons Band along with special guests Cheap Trick and former Eagles guitarist Don Felder. Frehley is expected to jump up and jam for a few songs.
This morning, Simmons, Frehley, Felder and Cheap Trick’s Rick Nielsen are scheduled to appear on The Tom Barnard Show on Cumulus Classic Rock KQRS/Minneapolis from 9-10am CT for a commercial-free hour of conversation and music with KQ’s legendary morning host (and 2017 National Radio Hall of Fame inductee) Tom Barnard. Immediately afterward, KQRS will host a local and national press conference with all four performers, followed by a Twitter Music Q&A with Gene and Ace.
Scott Jameson, OM/PD of KQRS and Cumulus VP of Classic Rock remarked, “Classic Rock radio is much more than just a collection of great songs — it’s about creating live broadcast and social media events that resonate with fans of this timeless music. We’re looking forward engaging our audience to share their content across multiple platforms when Gene and Ace make an exclusive appearance on the Tom Barnard Show this morning at 9am CT on 92.5 KQRS in Minneapolis.” KQRS also pulled off a killer side promotion: “Kiss Kids,” where parents submitted videos of their kids singing “Rock and Roll All Nite.” The winners will join Gene and Ace on stage tonight!
All proceeds from The Children Matter Benefit Concert will be directed to the hurricane relief efforts of the nonprofit MATTER, which works with relief organizations to deliver items needed most, such as MATTERbox Meal Kits, sanitation and contamination prevention supplies, etc. to folks displaced by the hurricane. Tickets for tonight’s show range from $60 to $250 and can be purchased at thechildrenmatter.ngo. You can also make a donation via the website or text CAUSE to 243-725.
