A Parent’s Worst Nightmare
Our thoughts and prayers are with longtime Tampa radio personality and voiceover artist Steve Austin, best known for his three decades of service at Beasley Country WQYK, who is currently dealing with the unimaginable — the loss of his 25-year-old son, Ryan. Orlando Davis, PD of Beasley sister WLLD (WiLD 94.1)/Tampa said it best when he posted, “Our brother Steve Austin from WQYK, who you’ve heard us talk to and talk about on air is standing in the need of prayer. He has the task of removing his son Ryan, from life support and as you would expect, he’s in pieces, having to say goodbye to his child of 25 years. Ryan loves music, made instrumental tracks for artists and dared to go gator hunting with his dad. Steve has done everything humanly possible for him and now has to let him go with God. Pray for his strength and we love you, brother.”
Adding to Austin’s anguish is the fact that he has not worked fulltime in over a year, and the financial strain on him and his family is staggering. To help defray the mountain of medical expenses and funeral costs the Austin family has incurred during Ryan’s care, Austin’s friends have established a GoFundMe page to help him.
No parent should ever have to bury his or her child — the most gut-wrenching, life-altering event that any parent could ever endure. Any amount you can donate will be a tremendous help and we thank you for any donation. Needless to say, Austin’s Facebook page is rapidly filling up with prayers and condolences from his many friends and supporters.
