An Unimaginable Loss
• The close-knit radio family inside the iHeartMedia broadcast complex in Portland, OR is still trying to come to grips with a recent tragedy that has deeply affected everyone on staff. The story was brought to our attention by Michael La Crosse, PD of KKCW & KLTH/Portland and KQXT/San Antonio, who told us, “Alyssa Rehse was an Account Executive for us here since 2015. Last weekend, while she and her husband Nick were attending a Dave Matthews concert, a blood vessel in her lung burst. The resulting trauma was too much for her body to handle and she passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 5.”
Making this horrific situation even more heartbreaking — Alyssa had recently returned from maternity leave after giving birth to her first child — their son Eddie is only seven months old.
La Crosse continued, “Prior to her passing Alyssa had expressed her desire to be an organ donor and the doctors were able to grant that wish. While we don’t know how many people will be saved due to her willingness to be an organ donor, we do know she will save lives through a final, selfless act.”
