Lisa Marie Presley Dies At 54

Lisa Marie Presley — the only child of Elvis Presley — died Thursday after being hospitalized earlier that day, according to the AP. She was 54 years old.

In a statement, Presley’s mother, Priscilla Presley said, “It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us. She was the most passionate, strong and loving woman I have ever known.”

The announcement came just hours after Priscilla Presley had confirmed that Lisa Marie had been rushed to the hospital earlier that day. Los Angeles County paramedics were dispatched to Lisa Marie’s Calabasas home at 10:37am following a report of a woman in full cardiac arrest, according to Craig Little, a spokesperson for the county’s fire department.

The news of Presley’s hospitalization was first broken by TMZ, which reported that Lisa Marie’s housekeeper found her unresponsive at her Calabasas home. Her ex-husband, Danny Keough, was there and performed CPR on her until paramedics arrived and took over — they administered at least one dose of epinephrine during resuscitation efforts. EMTs were able to regain a pulse before Lisa Marie was transported to nearby West Hills Medical Center in critical condition.

Ironically, Presley’s last public appearance was Tuesday night when she attended the Golden Globes to celebrate Austin Butler‘s award for his portrayal of her late father in Elvis.
