Remembering Brett Lucht

RAMP was deeply saddened to learn that Brett Lucht, longtime VP/Market Manager for Midwest Communications’ Wausau, WI stations, died over the holiday weekend. The news was initially reported by local ABC affiliate WAOW-TV, which said that Lucht, who had recently turned 50, drowned on Friday, July 3 while celebrating the July 4th weekend with his family.

In a statement, Duke Wright, President & CEO of Midwest Communications, said, “Brett has been an important part of our family; he built and led a winning team of people in Wausau. We are all shocked and saddened by this tragic accident. Our prayers go out to his family.”

Lucht joined Midwest in 1998 as a Marketing Consultant and had served as VP/Market Manager of Midwest’s founding market stations since 2004.

Lucht leaves behind his wife Stacy, and three daughters, Natalie, Lindsey and Emily. Lucht’s sister Lisa is a Marketing Consultant with Midwest Top 40 sister WIXX/Green Bay. There is a heartfelt remembrance of Brett by his colleague Tom King, which is posted on the website of News-Talk WSAU. [Photo from WSAU]
