Now is the time to finalize your plans to launch a podcast this summer. To help aspiring podcasters, the Download on Podcasting, a partnership between DMR/Interactive and Texas A&M University has created two resources to get you started — 1) Formats: Understanding the Structure of Podcasts, which provides insight on the importance and necessity of formatting your podcast, and 2) Podcasting 4-1-1: 4 Things You Need to Know provides an infographic of key insights including tips and suggestions to help you start your podcast off right including advice on audience interaction, preparation, promotion and scheduling.

The Download on Podcasting researched successful podcasts including: The Herd with Colin Cowherd, The Dan Patrick Show, This American Life, Stuff You Should Know, The Joe Rogan Experience, HubSpot, Demand Metric and Target Marketing Mag to cultivate key insights on the structure of your show. According to Rob Upchurch, the lead author of this Download on Podcasting study, “Podcasts benefit when the show has a highly organized and repeatable structure. Your format will allow you to know what to do every time you produce an episode.”
