Shrinkage @ Slacker Radio
San Diego-based streaming service Slacker Radio has laid off a quarter of its staff. In an effort to independently confirm this news, which initially appeared on Hypebot.com, RAMP reached out to the company’s PR department, which informed us that the company had indeed downsized 25% of its staff.
We were also sent this statement from Duncan Orrell-Jones, CEO of Slacker Radio, which read, “Slacker Radio is laying off approximately 25% of the team as part of our ongoing effort to focus on efficiency and accelerate the path towards profitability. Our strategy has always been to innovate in the radio and music space, and we’ve been working hard to develop new experiences that we believe will fulfill the promise of radio reimagined. The Slacker Radio App will not be affected by these changes, nor will several new product releases that are scheduled for later this year.”
On a more positive note, RAMP has learned that this round of downsizing did not impact Slacker’s radio team.
