Deshishku Upped To VP/GM Of ABC Radio

• ABC News makes it official and formally promotes Washington Deputy Bureau Chief Stacia Philips Deshishku to VP/GM of ABC Radio. Deshishku had been serving in the role on an interim basis since Steve Jones left in April to become President/COO of Skyview Networks.

ABC News President James Goldston broke the news of Deshishku’s appointment in a note to the news division that read, in part, “In April we asked Stacia to be the interim leader of the radio division. She dove in immediately and quickly demonstrated the same steadfast leadership and journalistic smarts the Washington team has come to rely on during her tenure as deputy bureau chief for the last five years. Although I know she will be missed greatly in Washington, we are thrilled to have her join us in New York full time. Stacia is a terrific mentor, providing wise and candid counsel to all, including me. She helped successfully transform the Washington bureau and was instrumental in ensuring it maintained its competitive edge and high standards in this non-stop news cycle.”

For her part, an excited Deshishku tweeted, “I am thrilled to join the @ABCRadio powerhouse at this exciting and innovative time for the audio world. I’m honored to work with the passionate journalists and creative business leaders who are poised to continue to lead the team into the future.”
