Harris Now The Boss Of The TRHOF

The Texas Radio Hall of Fame (TRHOF) has named Doug Harris as its new Executive Director. The announcement was made by retiring Operations Manager Josh Holstead during the Hall of Fame’s virtual awards ceremony on November 7. Fortunately, Harris already knows his way around the joint, as he is a 2011 inductee himself.

“We’ve been watching Doug Harris work for some time,” said Holstead, who has directed TRHOF operations since 2012, and has been a part of the organization since its 2001 inception. “Doug’s service to arts and professional organizations like The Houston Film Critics Society and Artists for Artists has helped these groups and others reach new levels, and that’s what we want our future to look like. In advance of our 20th anniversary, we’re ready to kick up some dust and he will be our ‘Dust Kicker-In-Chief.'”

Harris landed his first radio job in 1983 at heritage AOR KLOL/Houston and went on to enjoyed a storied career as an award-winning marketing and promotions director. He later service as a consultant and trainer to radio and TV stations in the U.S., Canada and abroad. “Josh and his advisory board have done an amazing job keeping the power of great radio top of mind with Texas listeners and advertisers,” said Harris. “Our job now is to reconfirm radio’s critical role in American life and recruit the next generation of Hall of Famers.” [Photo credit: Ray Hand]
