Marilynn Mee Needs Our Help

• Milwaukee radio icon and animal rights activist Marilynn Mee announced she is battling terminal cancer.

Mee memorably spent three decades on local radio, included launching WLZR (Lazer 103) in 1987 and serving as Music Director. She went on to spend 15 years in middays on Classic Rock WKLH before her position was eliminated in 2020. After that she devoted her fulltime efforts to her animal rights advocacy. Mee founded and served as president of the MPD K9 Foundation, volunteered for the Wisconsin Humane Society and Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission (MADACC). She backs countless animal rescue causes and organizations across the region.

In 2021, Mee was diagnosed with colon cancer. She underwent surgery and was cancer-free for five years. Unfortunately, the cancer returned earlier this year as Mee was diagnosed with stage 4, terminal colon cancer. Mee is currently undergoing rigorous chemotherapy to provide more time for her to get her affairs in order, secure loving homes for her dogs and spend as much time as she can with friends.

“I decided not to make my health issues public because I felt like there were more important things for people to talk about,” Mee said to On Milwaukee. “With everything else going on in the world, I didn’t think people needed to worry about my problems.”

On the contrary… Marilynn’s many friends and fans have taken up her cause, creating a GoFundMe account to help defray her rapidly escalating medical expenses. Please take a few minutes to read her story and donate whatever you can to help Marilynn in the fight of her life.
