All-Seger, All The Time!
• A few weeks ago we told you about the campaign being waged by Beasley Classic Rock WCSX/Detroit to have a street named after native son Bob Seger. While awaiting approval by the Ann Arbor, MI School Board, WCSX announced it would grease the skids, as it were, by playing 24 hours of Bob Seger music on Saturday, June 2. Here’s how that happened — the Big Jim’s House Morning Show challenged WCSX PD Jerry Tarrants that they could get more than 9,470 likes on the brand new “Make Bob Seger Boulevard” Facebook page. Within a few days, Seger fans from all over the world made their voices known, propelling the number of with likes for the page well over the 9,470 needed! At press time, that number had grown to 11,774 (including a RAMP like!).
“I should have known that Bob Seger fans would rise to the occasion,” Tarrants said. “It will be fun. The incredible response will help to support our efforts in having naming a street sign after this Rock legend. It is something that everyone in the Detroit area and around the world wants to see happen!” That’s Seger (center), lovingly bookended by morning host Big Jim O’Brien and co-host Erin Vermeulen.
“Bob Seger Saturday” starts at the stroke of 12am on June 2 — and keep following the progress of the Bob Seger Boulevard campaign on 94.7 WCSX.
