Lovely Rita Renewed
Entercom Classic Rock KSWD (100.3 The Sound)/Los Angeles announced a multi-year agreement with legendary L.A. Rock Radio Goddess Rita Wilde. Wilde will continue to do 7-midnight and remain host of the popular Album Side at 11 segment, featuring the uninterrupted play of one full classic rock album side at 11pm. “Rita relates so well to rock fans because she is one,” said PD Dave Beasing, who we know personally. “Rita has seen more Bruce and U2 concerts, among others, than anybody I know.” Peter Burton, VP/GM of Entercom Los Angeles remarked, “Classic Rock fans and artists have been listening to Rita since this music was new. We’re proud to have her at The Sound.”
Wilde is a Southern California native who began her radio career back in the day at the former KEZY/Anaheim. In 1983 Wilde embarked on a 25-year run at KLOS/Los Angeles, eventually rising to PD. She joined The Sound in May 2011 to do weekends and was quickly upped to nights. Wilde graduated from California State University in Long Beach and is a proud season ticket holder to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. “The Sound is the kind of radio I love, so I’m thrilled to be here,” said Wilde. “We play the best music ever made and present it with creativity and originality.” Wilde’s extension follows similar multi-year agreements with fellow market icons Cynthia Fox and “Uncle Joe” Benson.
As Beasing later explained to RAMP, “This contract extension gives Rita a little more time to introduce me to Bono, as she’s promised.”
