Bones Joins ‘Idol’ As Mentor

Premiere-syndicated morning heartthrob Bobby Bones let the proverbial cat out of the bag on Wednesday when he announced that he’s joining ABC’s upcoming reboot of American Idol as a mentor to the Top 24 contestants, sharing his expertise and advice on all areas of being an artist — covering stage presence, dealing with media, posting on social media, remaining focused and being authentic and original.

The audio announcement is posted on the Bobby Bones Show home page. Bones also took to Twitter to amplify his announcement in a series of posts that read, “Finally. I get to say something. I’m joining American Idol this season. I will be the mentor to all the top 24 contestants. And I appreciate you guys for letting it happen.”

Bones followed up with this post, that read, “Just so you know it’s official… here I am in a T-shirt that’s slightly too big for me. Standing next to an American Idol logo! Gets no more official than that. Excited to be joining the show! Thanks.”

ABC’s rebooted version of American Idol, hosted by Bones’ iHeartMedia brother-in-arms Ryan Seacrest and featuring judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan, debuts Sunday, March 11 at 8pm ET/PT.
