• We teased this story last week, and now, it appears to be fairly legit — proudly operating under the mission statement “Beer, Boobs & Rock,” JVC Broadcasting Orlando is now the proud owner of the hard-rocking Bud 94.1 — King of Rock, which resides on the HD-2 channel of Country sibling WOTW-FM (103.1 The Wolf) and on 94.1FM, courtesy of translator obtained under questionable circumstances. Bud 94.1 has long been rumored to exist, even going so far as to stream its “Rock Hard” format online at Bud941.com for the past several weeks. However, most right-thinking radio industry pros dismissed it as a hoax, a practical joke, or a terribly misguided headfirst plunge into a shallow pool. Shane Reeve, EVP of JVC Broadcasting, commented, “I have no comment at this time.” Reeve further stated that he had no further comment.
When asked about Bud 94.1’s music and positioning decisions, JVC CEO John Caracciolo stated, “I have full confidence in the guys I’ve met a few times who said they could do this… However, I also told them that if this radio station cratered, I would totally deny any part in the choices, and I’d get my revenge one day.” JVC Broadcasting COO Victor “Vic Latino” Canales commented, “I told them not to get involved with that satanic music. I don’t understand what they are thinking. However, I did come up with the name of the station, the format, and logo.”
Noted “radio programming derelict” Len Shackelford, who claims to have never left a job voluntarily, is rumored to be Bud’s new PD. When reached for comment, Shackelford denied being employed by anyone, but did say, “Hey, you kids, get off my lawn.”
