WOR Names Riedel New AM Co-Host
• iHeartMedia News-Talk 710 WOR/New York announced that author/columnist/TV & radio vet Michael Riedel will join Len Berman as the new morning show co-host. Len Berman and Michael Riedel in the Morning debuts at 6am Monday, March 5. Riedel succeeds Todd Schnitt, who left the show last October. “After a four-month search, we are super fortunate to have a triple-triple threat like Michael joining WOR,” said PD Tom Cuddy. “He has been a successful newspaper writer for decades, he co-hosted a TV show for over 20 years and now he’s joining us in a full-time capacity to pursue a lifelong passion for radio.”
Riedel has been the theater columnist for the New York Post since 1998. He has also co-hosted the PBS show Theater Talk for 24 years, and he’s the author of The New York Times bestseller Razzle Dazzle: The Battle for Broadway. He is currently researching and writing his second book. No stranger to radio, Riedel has been a regular guest on Imus in the Morning and he has also guest-hosted for WOR’s Mark Simone. His radio resume also includes appearances on NPR and the BBC.
“I’ve been a devoted WOR listener since I moved to NYC in 1986,” said Riedel. “In recent years, I’ve listened to broadcast legends Len Berman and Mark Simone regularly and was thrilled last fall when WOR asked me to guest-host with Len. Len, his Producer Natalie Vacca and news anchor Joe Bartlett were sensational to work with. They made the job fun and easy. I’m grateful to the iHeartMedia New York team for a new career in a medium I love — radio.”
Berman noted, “I couldn’t be more excited to have Michael as my new co-host. I loved working with him when he was guest hosting. We come from two different worlds — Michael from newspaper and Broadway, me from TV and sports. Factor in that we don’t see eye-to-eye politically, and I’m convinced it all adds up to entertaining morning radio.” [Photo credit: Annie Wermiel]
