Something Funny Happening In Tucson
• The sale of KFLT-AM and translator K269FV in Tucson, Arizona, from Family Life Broadcasting, Inc. to Radio Tucson, LLC is now closed. The Seller, Family Life Broadcasting, Inc., is an Arizona not-for-profit corporation headed by Evan Carlson. Family Life Broadcasting owns radio stations in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Michigan, New Mexico, Tennessee, Texas, and Wisconsin.
The Buyer, Radio Tucson, LLC, is an Arizona-based company headed by Chairman of the Board Fletcher McCusker and two partners. The company has no other broadcast interests at this time. KFLT-AM operates at 830 kHz, with 50kW day and 1kW night. K269FV (FX) operates at 101.7 MHz, with 250 Watts at 1,822′ HAAT. Kalil & Co., Inc. was the exclusive broker for this transaction.
• Interestingly, now that the sale has closed, something funny is already going on with KFLT, which wasted zero time flushing its former Contemporary Christian format in favor of something… um… slightly different — 101.7 is now calling itself The WORM, playing “The Greatest Novelty Hits of All Time.” Some of the gems heard so far include, “Does Your Chewing Gum Lose Its Flavor,” “Convoy,” “Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh,” “Purple People Eater” and “Star Trekkin'” by The Firm. No, seriously. Think this might be some sort of wacky stunt? You are advised to stand by for further developments.
