WPGC Downsizes Mornings & Middays

RAMP has confirmed major on-air changes at Audacy Urban WPGC/Washington, as morning host Joe Clair and midday personality Sunni have both left the building. As we speak, the WPGC website only lists afternoon personality DJ Flexx, evening talent DJ Akademiks and the weekend staff. There’s no word yet on the employment status of Clair’s morning show castmates Guy Lambert and Poet Taylor, and emails to WPGC management had not been returned at press time.

Joe Clair is a nationally known touring comedian who hosted BET’s Rap City for six years. He actually started his radio career at WPGC back in the day as part of the Sunday Night Hip-Hop Show with Big Tigger. He later went on to co-host the Russ Parr Morning Show on crosstown WKYS and was also a jock on Hot 97/New York. Clair rejoined WPGC as morning co-host in early 2015, crossing the street from WHUR, where he had been a cast member of Frank Ski‘s afternoon show.

Sunni Puric joined WPGC in January 2011, after earlier stops in Detroit, New York and Miami. She originally did middays until June 2017, when she was invited to join the Joe Clair Morning Show. That stint lasted until July 2020, when she moved back to middays. In a Twitter post, @SunniAndTheCity said, “After 10 amazing years, today was my last day at WPGC. To all the amazing listeners, my co-workers and the ENTIRE DMV, I love you all so much. THANK YOU for all that you have given me.” [Sunni photo from Twitter]
