Clive Holding Two Grammy Galas

• For Grammy fans, Clive Davis‘ long-running annual Pre-Grammy Gala, traditionally held the night before the Grammy Awards, is always the hottest ticket in town. This year, while it was expected that the event would held virtually — many folks were pleasantly surprised to find out that when the Grammys moved up from Jan. 31 to March 14, due to the escalating COVID-19 cases in Los Angeles, that Mr. Davis decided to hold two parties — the first one is happening this Saturday, Jan. 31, the originally scheduled date of the Grammys, and the second one will be held on March 13, the night before the rescheduled Grammy Awards.

While details are being kept largely under wraps, Variety reports that the party will feature videos of what Mr. Davis deems as 20 of the greatest live performances of all time (not performances from previous Grammy parties, as was inaccurately reported elsewhere), and Davis talking with the artists about them: Bruce Springsteen, Alicia Keys, Rod Stewart, Diddy, Jamie Foxx, Barry Gibb, Earth Wind & Fire, Gladys Knight and others TBA.

The events will also feature several live performances, which Davis told Variety said would number “more than three but less than 10.” He also revealed that Paul Simon, Carlos Santana and Joni Mitchell will be joining him for the March 14 show.

This Saturday’s event will benefit MusiCares, the Recording Academy’s charitable wing, while the second event on March 13 will benefit the Grammy Museum. And while the ticket remains exclusive, the invite list is closer to 2,000 this virtual year than the usual 1,000 luminaries who traditionally gather at the Beverly Hilton. The virtual gala event will be streamed exclusively on Moment House. You can read Variety‘s conversation with Mr. Davis online.
