Corey Berkowitz Joins Saban Music Group

Saban Music Group has named Corey Berkowitz as Head of Pop & Urban A&R, working with a diverse roster that includes Static & Ben El, Mergui, Nakkia Gold, Don Omar, and Chesca.

If Corey’s last name sounds familiar, that’s because it is — growing up in the Detroit suburbs, Berkowitz was influenced by his famous father — veteran programmer & consultant Gary Berkowitz — and absorbed a deep appreciation of Top 40 and pop music. During his freshman year at Michigan State University, Berkowitz started booking concerts, including one featuring Wiz Khalifa, Big Sean, and Mike Posner. Upon graduation, Berkowitz relocated to Los Angeles, and after a series of internships and early gigs, was recruited by Rock Mafia [Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus, Eminem, Marshmello] as VP of A&R.

During a seven-year run with the multi-platinum production and songwriting team of Tim James and Antonina Armato, Berkowitz developed electronic and alternative phenomenon Elohim. He also discovered and signed Yoshi Flower, arranging a joint venture for the artist between Rock Mafia and Interscope Records. He personally secured Migos for “My Family” [feat. Migos, KAROL G, Snoop Dogg, & Rock Mafia] on soundtrack for 2019’s The Addams Family. Berkowitz also secured Megan Thee Stallion to feature alongside Maluma and Rock Mafia on “Crazy Family” for The Addams Family 2 soundtrack. Signed to Downtown Music Publishing (now Concord) as a songwriter, Berkowitz notably co-wrote Bahari‘s “Ways of Love” and Quin XCII‘s “Holding Hands” [feat. Elohim].

“For me, it’s important to be a part of every step of the process,” Berkowitz stated. “I’m not just an A&R who’s looking for talent; I’m part of the song’s creation. I understand how to take a song from zero to a hundred. There’s nothing better than helping artists bring their most authentic visions to life.” [Photo credit: Shayla Lee]
