‘HJY’s Paul & Al Announce Retirement

• The end of the illustrious “Paul & Al Era” at iHeartMedia’s WHJY (94HJY)/Providence will soon come to its inevitable close, as hosts Paul Fuller and Al Matthews, who celebrated their 36th anniversary in mornings on Wednesday, July 15, used that special anniversary date to formally announce their impending retirement. Their final show will be August 27,

Paul and Al shared their news with their legions of loyal listeners on the radio and via WJAR-TV (a.k.a. “a local television station”) as Kennedy Buck from WJAR’s NBC 10 Sunrise was in-studio to chat with the guys. The segment is posted to Facebook.

And don’t think that Paul & Al will be going out quietly — “The Paul & Al It’s About Freakin’ Time Retirement Party” for listeners will be held at Track 15 in Providence on August 21, featuring the silky smooth sounds of AC/DC cover band Dirty Deeds.
