DeGraw Does Da Karaoke

Cumulus Media Hot AC WPLJ/New York recently welcomed singer/songwriter Gavin DeGraw to Stage 17, the building’s awesome new live performance for “Karaoke for a Cause.” DeGraw performed an acoustic set for an intimate group of 95.5 PLJ listeners and joined the station and Voss Foundation in raising awareness of Voss Foundation and VOSS Water’s annual #31Days to Make a Difference initiative. Voss Foundation is dedicated to providing access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene as a means to enable community-driven development in Sub-Saharan Africa and raising awareness of the ongoing need in the region.

DeGraw opened his performance with “She Sets The City On Fire,” and later invited a listener on stage to sing a karaoke version of DeGraw’s single,” Making Love With The Radio On” with PLJ afternoon jock John Foxx, while DeGraw accompanied them on piano. Chad Lopez, VP/Market Manager of Cumulus Media New York, commented, “We’re excited about our partnership with Voss in Stage 17 at Cumulus New York. Gavin was the perfect artist to kick off ‘Karaoke for a Cause’ and we look forward to seeing this program excel and raise awareness for Voss Foundation, featuring A-level talent right here in our studios.”

WPLJ PD Gillette added, “Gavin isn’t just a special artist to us — he’s a full-fledged member of the 95.5 family. We’re always happy when he comes home, and we’re thrilled that he loves what we did with his ‘bedroom.'” Pictured, (l-r): WPLJ late night personality Ralphie; PD Gillette; Gavin DeGraw and 95.5 PLJ evening air talent Melony Torres.
