Lovato ‘Awake & Stable’ After Suspected OD

• Sources tell Variety that singer Demi Lovato is in “stable” condition after she was hospitalized for what was initially reported as a suspected heroin overdose. TMZ was first to report that Los Angeles Police Department responded to a medical emergency at the 8000 block of Laurel View Drive in the Hollywood Hills, where Lovato’s home is located. Lovato was reportedly found unconscious and treated with the medication Narcan, which is designed to rapidly reverse opioid overdose — before being transported to a local hospital.

• On Tuesday afternoon, a source connected to Lovato told TMZ that the singer did not OD on heroin, but would not reveal what substance did cause the overdose. In a statement that seems to support that claim, Lovato’s rep told Variety, “Demi is awake and with her family who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers, and support.” The statement continued, “Some of the information being reported is incorrect and they respectfully ask for privacy and not speculation as her health and recovery is the most important thing right now.” Lovato, 25, has struggled with substance abuse for years and has previously received treatment for bipolar disorder, bulimia and substance abuse. She recently revealed that she had relapsed just months after celebrating six years of sobriety.

Support for Lovato continues to pour in across social media — Brad Paisley tweeted, “My friend @ddlovato is one of the kindest, most talented people I’ve ever met. Praying for her right now, addiction is a terrifying disease. There is no one more honest or brave than this woman.”Ellen DeGeneres tweeted, “I love @DDLovato so much. It breaks my heart that she is going through this. She is a light in this world, and I am sending my love to her and her family.” Bebe Rexha tweeted, “I’m praying for you with everything in me @ddlovato. You are so loved.”

Lovato had just performed with Iggy Azalea at the Mid-State Fair in Paso Robles, CA on Sunday and was scheduled to headline a show Thursday night in Atlantic City, NJ, but that performance has been cancelled. Lauv was due to open the Atlantic City show, and a new headliner will be announced, a rep for the venue says.
