Toronto’s Rock Launches ‘Cone’s Cave’

• Durham Radio Active Rock CKGE (94-9 The Rock)/Toronto is launching a new weekly show — Cone’s Cave, hosted by Cone McCaslin, bass player of a “local Ontario rock band,” a.k.a. Sum 41.

The radio show, as announced by PD Doug Elliott, marks a full-circle moment for McCaslin, who notes that it was radio that first introduced him to so many influential bands that helped shape his musical tastes and music career, and that love of radio has lead to the launch of Cone’s Cave on 94-9 The Rock, an hour-long weekly show he has personally curated for music discovery. From punk to garage rock to metal to whatever… Cone’s Cave is a definite departure from the mainstream.

“Growing up in Ajax (Ontario), I’m excited to be joining Craig & Lucky, Loriann, Doug and Lee as a new addition to the talk stars at The Rock,” said McCaslin, adding, “I’ll be calling up my friends in music, movies and entertainment, to have some conversations about some of their songs, talk about past mutual stories and also get an idea of what influenced them early on in their career. It’ll be a chance to get inside their lives for a few minutes.”

McCaslin will continue to collect backstage interviews for the radio show as Sum 41 embarks on a world tour ahead of the release of their forthcoming half pop-punk/half metal double album Heaven And Hell. Cone’s Cave debuts Sunday, April 17 at 7pm ET on 94-9 The Rock.
