Carson & Warren To Perform On Oscars
• Actress and singer Sofia Carson, accompanied by songwriter Diane Warren, will perform the Oscar®-nominated song “Applause” from Tell It like a Woman at next month’s 95th Oscars®.
The announcement was made Friday by Executive Producers/showrunners Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner and Executive Producer Molly McNearney.
“Applause,” with music and lyric by Warren, is nominated for Original Song and is Warren’s 14th Oscar nomination. She received an Honorary Award at the Academy’s Governors Awards in November 2022.
Carson is a multiplatinum recording artist who released her self-titled debut album in 2022. Her film credits include Purple Hearts, which she also executive produced and wrote and performed the soundtrack, Songbird, Feel the Beat, The Descendants trilogy, and the upcoming film Carry On. It’s worth noting that “Applause” (Hollywood Records) is currently Top 20 at Mainstream AC and climbing.
The addition of Carson & Warren follows the news that Rihanna will also appear on the Oscars broadcast to perform her Academy Award-nominated song “Lift Me Up” from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Producers will announce additional performers in the coming weeks. Hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, the 95th Oscars will be held on Sunday, March 12 at the Dolby® Theatre at Ovation Hollywood and air live on ABC and broadcast outlets worldwide.
