Maxwell’s Smart Move
• Maxwell Schaeffer has been named Director of Promotions and Marketing for iHeartMedia’s eight-station group in scenic Des Moines, IA, effective August 10. Schaeffer crosses the street from Saga’s Des Moines Radio Group, where he served 23 years as morning host on Classic Hits KIOA-FM. He’s also a member of the Iowa Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame, in case you need that.
In his new role with iHeartMedia, Schaeffer will be responsible for leading the day-to-day promotional and marketing operations of the radio stations, and he will also make on-air appearances across the cluster, including Adult Hits KDRB (100.3 The Bus) and WHO-AM (News Radio 1040), making a special appearance on the Van and Bonnie In The Morning show during the upcoming Iowa State Fair.
“Everyone in Des Moines knows Maxwell,” said Joel McCrea, Area Market President-Iowa. “He is a friend to many charitable organizations as well as the arts and the business community, giving him a solid understanding and connection to the market.”
Schaeffer said, “I’m thrilled to continue my relationship with Iowa’s passionate radio fans and the community that I’ve known for decades. We have an amazing team at iHeartMedia Des Moines and we’re looking forward to continuing to use our stable of station brands to help our business and advertising partners best serve consumers and listeners.” Schaeffer succeeds Nick Bruns, who recently transferred to iHeartMedia Tucson as Promotions & Events Director.
