Radio: Art Imitates Life

• Last week we told you about the cutbacks at iHeartMedia AC KRBB (B98)/Wichita that took out PD/midday personality Dave Wilson and morning hosts Adam “Lukas” Cox and Careth Beard.

In a remarkably fortunate bit of timing, Cox/Lukas just considerably raised his public profile with the release of a book he wrote about his 30-year radio career, aptly titled, My Crazy Radio Life.

That three-decade ride includes nights at Z100/New York, mornings at KRQQ/Tucson, KDND/Sacramento and KMVA/Phoenix and nights on KHFI/Austin and KDGE/Dallas — generating enough material to fill a book, as Cox explains to RAMP, “This book has a lot of radio people in it. Nothing bad, just true stories of how I got into radio and the crazy 30-year ride. I’m sure everyone who has spent time in radio will be able to identify with my struggles and my triumphs.”

My Crazy Radio Life is now available via Amazon.com in handy paperback or Kindle versions. Oh, and attention potential employers — Cox/Lukas can be reached at onairlukas@gmail.com.
