Radio Readers To The Rescue!

• With all of the fear, uncertainty and social distancing connected to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, SummitMedia Hot AC WURV (103.7 Play)/Richmond made the momentous decision to get positively proactive and launched the “Radio Readers” webisode series.

As OM/PD Melissa Chase explains to RAMP, “With all the schools in the state closed we wanted to make sure that our littlest listeners could still have access to books, so we created a virtual story time for them with our 103.7 Play personalities reading!”

Chase continued, “We realized that kids must be pretty scared right now — not only worrying about the virus itself but with this massive schedule adjustment of ‘Distance Learning’ since the schools are all closed. All of our 103.7 Play DJs read often at local elementary schools so we thought since we can’t go to their schools now, we’d create ‘Radio Readers’ so we can come to them at home! We’ll be uploading new videos each day, everything from Llama Llama Mad at Mama to Arthur books and even spooky tales like Scary Stories to Tell In The Dark.”

Chase added, “Radio is in such a crazy position right now, and we trying to think of everything we can to share information and help as many people as we can.” Videos are available on 103.7 Play’s social media pages and with new ones posted each day.
