Sox Jam’n To Wicked Awesome Anthem
• In case you’ve been, say, waaaay out of town and missed it, the Boston Red Sox capped off a historic 119-win season on Sunday, winning their 4th World Series championship this century, beating the Los Angeles Dodgers in five games! During the extensive post-victory coverage, you may have seen the viral video that Red Sox star Brock Holt featured in his Instagram Live feed as the team flew home from Los Angeles Monday on their chartered jet. In the video, Holt and teammates J.D. Martinez, Mookie Betts, Andrew Benintendi and the others are shown jamming to a song that they have adopted as their own victory anthem.
As it turns out, that song, dubbed “Red Sox Nonstop Anthem” didn’t even exist 24 hours prior — it was a labor of love created on the fly by Maverik, a.k.a. Money Mav (pictured), midday talent on iHeartMedia Rhythmic WJMN (JAM’N 94.5)/Boston.
To get the inside scoop on this homegrown viral sensation, RAMP spoke with Shaileen Santoro, VP of Marketing for iHeartMedia Boston, who told us, “Maverik came into the station Monday morning at 3am after being out at a local bar with other Sox fans. He wrote the song, recorded it, and then played it during his show at 10am Monday. Someone from the Red Sox organization heard the song and reached out to another one of our on-air talents (Ashlee Feldman) to see if they could have the song. From there it is HIS-story for our own Money Mav and the Red Sox!”
PS: Santoro shared the song with a friend inside the Red Sox organization, and — fingers crossed — the team will blast it today during the traditional Duck Boat victory parade through the streets of Boston!
