51 Years Longer Than 51 Hours

• In celebration of its 51st anniversary, 90.3 WMSC-FM (“The Voice of Montclair State”) in scenic Montclair, NJ, will be broadcasting 51 hours of live event programming beginning today at 8am ET and running through 11am on Wednesday, April 18. The festivities will kick off this morning with a remote broadcast of The Morning Buzz, live from the legendary Red Hawk Diner on the campus of Montclair State University. Mike Grippa, PD of WMSC remarked, “Radio has been a big part of my time here at Montclair State and I wanted to program 51 hours of the best WMSC has to offer! My hope is that people might tune in and like what they hear and stick around.”

The marathon celebration will showcase 25 unique programs hosted by over 40 current students and alumni DJs, special interviews and performances, old favorites and new favorite shows, in hopes of bringing greater awareness to the original content produced by students at Montclair State University.

“Our show lineup for this marathon is one that is unlike any that we have done in previous years,” said Mike Stringham, current student Station Manager of WMSC. “I’m proud that we have so many diverse radio shows and different live broadcasts that highlight what makes each of our very diverse DJs and staff’s heart sing! It makes me proud to be their leader, and excited for the future generations at this station.”

As part of this anniversary celebration, WMSC will be hosting studio open houses in the School of Communication and Media Suite 2007 during work hours throughout the entirety of the marathon. Tours of the station will be given, and visitors will have the opportunity to go live on air. Students will also be able to enter contests to win station merchandise and concert tickets.
