Life After Radio For ‘Shay Shay’

• Yesterday we told you that Detroit radio pro “Shay Shay” Lewis had resigned her midday shift at Beasley’s WMGC (105.1 The Bounce)/Detroit and was transitioning to a new career path outside of radio.

Today, Ms. Lewis (left) revealed that she has accepted a position as the Athletic Director for the City of Detroit. Lewis tells RAMP, “I do LOVE radio… I’ve been doing it for 21 years, so it was tough to decide to leave, but this is a great new opportunity for me that I’m excited about, and I’m eager to make my mark in my home city in this capacity.” She added, “Maybe radio will be in the cards again some day, but for now my headphones are hung up.”

Lewis’ lengthy Motor City radio career also includes stops at the former WDZH (98.7 AMP Radio)WKQI (Channel 955), WDRQ, WDVD and WDTJ (105.9 Jamz). She is also an adjunct professor at Wayne State College, where she teaches in the Kinesiology graduate department as well as sports broadcasting.
