The Best News Of All
It has certainly been an emotionally draining few months for Atlanta radio vet Jenn Hobby, co-host of The Jeff & Jenn Show on Entercom’s WSTR (Star 94.1)/Atlanta and her husband, Grant — last August Hobby revealed that the couple’s youngest child, 10-month-old daughter Reese was battling cancer, as doctors discovered a malignant tumor near the base of her spine. Little Reese immediately started a course of chemotherapy at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, and right after Thanksgiving, Reese underwent surgery to remove the remainder of the tumor.
Now, as Hobby’s friend and co-host Jeff Dauler reports, “Doctors had to wait for the surgery site to heal and for swelling to go down before doing an MRI to see if there was anything remaining/growing. Reese had her post-op MRI last Tuesday and the results came back on Thursday — ALL CLEAR! This, combined with normal AFP levels, indicate to doctors that her treatment plan was successful and Reese has no more cancer in her body! She’ll have to be monitored pretty frequently for the next several years, but as of today, she is a normal, healthy, crazy-active 16-month-old.”
During this stressful oddyessy, Jenn and Grant (pictured on the right with Reese and big sister Lauren) began to build an online fund to help benefit the research being done by Dr. Thomas Olson and Dr. Megan Durham, the leaders of Reese’s medical team. Dauler said, “Coincidentally, that fund was approved on the day of Reese’s MRI and went active a couple of hours before they got the good news!” If you have children — or are a former child yourself — and are interested in donating, the fund is now up and active at choa.org/reese.
