Abrams Joins Lotus As Reg. Dir./Programming

UPDATED: On the heels of Thursday’s announcement by Kent Phillips that he’s leaving Lotus Hot AC KPLZ (Star 101.5)/Seattle after 35 years to become a partner in research firm FMR Associates and focus on his growing consultancy, Lotus Communications Corp. announced the hire of veteran programmer Mike Abrams as Regional Director of Programming overseeing the Lotus stations in Bakersfield and Seattle.

In making the announcement, Jim Kalmenson, President of Lotus Communications Corp. said, “We are happy to have Mike as part of the Lotus team, as we continue to grow.”

Abrams’ radio resume includes stints at WHQT (Hot 97)/New York, KKFR (Power 92)/Phoenix, and the former WBTS (95.5 The Beat)/Atlanta as well as stops at SiriusXM, iHeartMedia and TuneIn radio over the years.

Abrams remarked, “I’m extremely excited to be part of the best broadcast group in the U.S. working with the amazing Jim Kalmenson and everyone else at Lotus. Looking forward to making more radio history!”

Abrams will oversee the Seattle market for now… look for announcements regarding a new PD and on-air talent additions soon.
